Starbucks Uses Their Cups for Soft Sell, Heart-based Marketing
The other day we went to Starbucks for tea and a bit of pondering about “the meaning of life” and especially our own lives since having been “guided” to make a radical turn from providing psychotherapy and relationship counseling to becoming the voice for Soft Sell, Heart-based Marketing.
And, as may happen to you from time to time, our musings were answered — at least for that time. But not in any way you might predict.
Instead, as Jim played with his Starbucks cup, he began to notice that there wasn’t just commercial advertising on it.
In fact, it was a form of Grace, an Extended Prayer of Love and Respect — from Starbucks to the interweaving life-forms that inhabit this planet.
Word-for-word, here’s the message:

YOU
Have been working with Conservation International For 10 Years.
Everything we do, you do. Buy our coffee, and good things happen. Take Starbucks 1-year partnership with CI in making things better for farmers and the planet. Now that includes focusing on climate change too — together with CI and farmers we can keep up to 100 tons of CO2 out of the atmosphere for every acre of tropical forest we protect. It makes a difference.
Just like you do. Congratulations, you.

Starbucks SHARED PLANET
You and Starbucks. It’s bigger than coffee.

So the next time you’re in a Starbucks, remember that your dollars are helping to make a difference — not just to corporate and the staff and management of that store — but to the entire planet due to Starbucks’ commitment to Conscious Capitalism and giving back.
And when you buy from us, you support our work as we continue to get the word out about Soft Sell — Bridging Heart and Marketing — so that worldwide commerce has a better chance to enter the 21st Century and serve not just the bank accounts of the already wealthy, but also serve the well-being of all who participate.
So now — how can you expand the use your business to help improve life on this Shared Planet?

Love this… reminds me of Mother Teresa’s saying it’s not the big things you do that make a difference, it’s the small things you do with great love. Now, whenever I am drinking coffee (or tea), or doing almost anything, I can be reminded of the effect of what I do on the planet and that indeed small actions can make a large difference.
Thanks to you both for all you do, and for the wonderful reminders that you give!

What a wonderful thing Starbuck’s is doing for the planet. My Canadian friends who boycott it because it’s “an American chain” should see this. I’ll let them know!!!
